WHEREAS, Newberry County Council determines that it is both necessary and appropriate to set forth rules and regulations for the recreational use of the Lynch’s Woods Park.   The rules and regulations have been developed and input has been solicited from a number of interest groups.  

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the attached document entitled, NEWBERRY COUNTY PARK, Lynch’s Woods Park & Trail Rules is hereby adopted and shall be enforced by Newberry County, as fully as if restated verbatim, effective immediately.

AND IT IS SO RESOLVED BY Newberry County Council in meeting duly assembled this 16th day of January, 2008.

                Newberry County Park

                             Lynch’s Woods Park  & Trail Rules

 

   Gates will be opened at Daylight and will be locked at Dusk, weather permitting.

 

Required Park Permits can be obtained from:

Newberry County Recreation Department; Monday – Friday; 9:00am to 6:00pm @ 803-924-8328

City of Newberry Fire Department; After Hours and Weekends @ 803-321-1030

A Permit can also be applied for, and a Permit Number issued, over the telephone.

 

Permits Are Required For: 

q        Primitive Overnight camping

q        Campfires or fires of any type (Fire permits are required for all visitors).  

q        Camping for more than seven consecutive days. (No Persons shall be allowed overnight camping privileges for a consecutive period longer than seven days without permission from the Newberry County Recreation Department.)

q        No permits shall be issued to unaccompanied minors under the age of eighteen, or to those under 21 thought to be in possession of alcohol beverages or drug paraphernalia  

 

Not Allowed In Park:

q        Firearms, Fireworks, & Archery Equipment

q        Hunting of any kind

q        Beer, wine or alcoholic beverages of any kind

q        Littering

q        Picking, cutting or digging up any plants or trees

q        Overnight camping or overnight parking in any trailer or motorized vehicle   

q        Motorized bikes, unlicensed motorcycles, or all-terrain or off-road vehicles of any type

q        Travel off of or alteration of existing trails

 

Regulation of Bicycles & All Off-Road Vehicles:

q        Bicycles permitted only on roads & designated trails

q        Use caution when overtaking another; make your presence known in advance

q        Always wear an approved helmet when riding

q        Only licensed Golf Carts and licensed motor vehicles allowed

q        No unlicensed motorized bikes, unlicensed motorcycles, or off-road three or four wheel vehicles, with the exception of vehicles used by park officials, law enforcement and handicapped persons with handicap permit

q        All motorized vehicles must remain on gravel roadways and designated parking areas, except for authorized law enforcement and emergency vehicles

 

Animals & Horseback Riding:  Animals Can Not Run At Large

q        All pets must be kept under control and on leashes no more than six feet in length

q        Relocation and release of domestic and/or wild animals is NOT PERMITTED

q        Horses allowed on roads & designated trails only

 

Water and Restrooms are available at the picnic area.
