NEWBERRY COUNTY COUNCIL
MINUTES
MAY 8, 2008
The Newberry County Council met on Thursday, May 8, 2008, at 7:00 p.m. in the Conference Room at the Courthouse Annex, 1309 College Street, Newberry, SC, for a work session.
Present were: Henry B. Summer, Chairman

Notice of the meeting was duly advertised as required by law.
Mr. Summer called the meeting to order and determined a quorum to be present.
Mr. Dawkins had the invocation.
Mr. Dawkins moved to adopt the agenda; second by Mr. Waldrop. Vote was unanimous.
Discussion was held regarding the recreational vehicle ordinance and the ordinance establishing a new zoning district (RS-1A).
Council reached the following decisions:
1. Mr. Waldrop moved to proceed with the ordinance establishing the RS-1A zoning district; second by Mr. Dawkins. Vote was unanimous.
2, Mr. Dawkins moved to make the following amendments to the recreational vehicle ordinance (03-06-08):
a. page 2, Section 4(A): Put a period after the words “24 hours” and strike the remainder of the paragraph so that it reads as follows:
“(A) No Recreational Vehicles shall be parked or stored on, or adjacent to, any lot in an RS-1 zoning district for more than 24 hours.”
b. page 2-3, Section 4(C): After “RS-1”, add an “A”, put a period after the words “zoning district” and strike the remainder of the paragraph so that it reads as follows:
“(C) In the case of a Recreational Vehicle owned or lawfully used by a family living on or occupying the premises, the temporary use of such Recreational Vehicle by such family, or of additional Recreational Vehicles on that property by the invitees, shall not be permitted for any period of time in an RS-1A zoning district.”
c. page 3, Section 4(D): After the word zoned add “RS-1, RS-2”, put a period after RG and strike the remainder of the paragraph so that it reads as follows:
“(D) Except for state regulations on hunt camps and mobile home/manufactured home parks, and the Special Exception requirements for commercial campgrounds in the R-2 Zoning Districts, there is no restriction on the parking or recreational use of Recreational Vehicles in the areas of Newberry County zoned RS-1, RS-2, RS-3, RS-4, R-2, AG, or RG.”
d. page 3, Section 4(H): Strike paragraph (H) in its entirety.
e. page 3, Section 4(I): Renumber this paragraph to (H).
Motion was seconded by Mr. Waldrop. Vote was unanimous.
There being no further business, Mr. Summer declared the meeting adjourned at 8:40 p.m.
