NEWBERRY COUNTY COUNCIL

MINUTES

MAY 23, 2007

Newberry County Council met on Wednesday, May 23, 2007, at 7:30 p.m. in Council Chambers at the Courthouse Annex, 1309 College Street, Newberry, SC, for a special meeting.

Present were: Henry B. Summer, Chairman

William D. Waldrop, Vice-Chairman

John E. Caldwell, Councilman

John David Dawkins, Councilman

Mike Hawkins, Councilman

Edgar Baker, Councilman

Henry H. Livingston, III, Councilman (arrived at 7:45 p.m.)

Wayne Adams, County Administrator

Gary T. Pope, County Attorney

Susan C. Fellers, Clerk to Council

Media: Heather Hawkins, WKDK

Notice of the meeting was duly advertised as required by law.

Mr. Summer called the meeting to order and determined a quorum to be present.

Mr. Dawkins had the invocation followed by the Pledge of Allegiance.

Mr. Dawkins requested the addition of a contractual matter under Executive Session. Mr. Waldrop moved to amend the agenda; second by Mr. Dawkins. Vote was unanimous. [Councilman Livingston absent]

There being no other amendments to the agenda, Mr. Baker moved to adopt the agenda as amended; second by Mr. Dawkins. Vote was unanimous. [Councilman Livingston absent]

Mr. Baker moved to go into Executive Session to discuss a personnel matter concerning the County Attorney’s Office and a contractual matter; second by Mr. Dawkins. Vote was unanimous. [Councilman Livingston absent]

[Councilman Livingston arrived at 7:45 p.m. while Council was in Executive Session.

[EXECUTIVE SESSION 7:33 P.M. – 8:39 P.M.]

Mr. Baker moved to return to open session; second by Mr. Dawkins. Vote was unanimous.

There being no further business, Mr. Waldrop moved to adjourn. Vote was unanimous.

Meeting adjourned at 8:39 p.m.
