NEWBERRY COUNTY COUNCIL

MINUTES

AUGUST 9, 2006

The Newberry County Council met on Wednesday, August 9, 2006 at 7:00 p.m. in the Conference Room at the Courthouse Annex, 1309 College Street, Newberry, SC, for a special called meeting.

Present were: Mike Hawkins, Chairman

William D. Waldrop, Vice-Chairman

John E. Caldwell, Councilman

Henry B. Summer, Councilman

John David Dawkins, Councilman

Andy Morris, Councilman

Edgar Baker, Councilman

J.E. Klugh, Acting County Administrator

There was no representation from the media.

Notice of the meeting was duly advertised as required by law.

Mr. Hawkins called the meeting to order and determined a quorum to be present.

Mr. Baker moved to go into Executive Session for the purpose of interviewing candidates for the position of County Administrator, a legal update and a contractual matter; second by Mr. Morris. Vote was unanimous.

At 9:15 p.m., Mr. Baker moved to return to open session; second by Mr. Waldrop. Vote was unanimous.

Mr. Baker moved to permit the Red Cross to temporarily use an office in the Agricultural Building; second by Mr. Morris. Vote was unanimous.

Mr. Morris moved to go back into Executive Session to discuss a personnel matter and a contractual matter; second by Mr. Waldrop. Vote was unanimous.

(Edgar Baker left the meeting at this time.)

At 10:10 p.m., Mr. Morris moved to return to open session; second by Mr. Waldrop. Vote was unanimous. (Councilman Baker absent.)

There being nothing to report from the Executive Session and no further business to come before Council, Mr. Morris moved to adjourn; second by Mr. Summer. Vote was unanimous. (Councilman Baker absent.)

Meeting adjourned at 10:10 p.m.
