John David Dawkins, Councilman
Andy Morris, Councilman
Edgar Baker, Councilman

Cindy Pitts, Newberry Observer
Notice of the meeting was duly advertised as required by law.
Mr. Hawkins called the meeting to order and determined a quorum to be present.
Jack Grimes with Carter Goble Lee advised that he had additional testing done on the corner property across from Piedmont Technical College. Three professional engineers have advised that the property is not suitable for the Rescue Squad building. To bring up the construction pad on the site 10 feet, would cost $500,000 for fill dirt.
Mr. Pope advised that Cavanaugh was open to discussion about property they own in the vicinity of Piedmont Technical College.
After discussion, Mr. Baker moved to locate the Rescue Squad #14 building on the old race track on the fairgrounds property; second by Mr. Waldrop.
Lewis Lee’s recommendation was that anywhere on the fairgrounds property would be suitable. Several members of the Newberry Rescue Squad #14 were in attendance and all concurred that anywhere on the fairgrounds property would be acceptable.
Discussions were had as to locating them at the Newberry County Airport. This is not feasible because it would put them further away from their equipment and would kill their response time.
Mr. Baker amended his motion that the Rescue Squad #14 building be located in some suitable site on the fairgrounds property; Mr. Waldrop amended his second. Vote was unanimous.
Council requested that Jack Grimes report back in a week as to the exact location on the fairgrounds property.
There being no further business, Mr. Waldrop moved to adjourn; second by Mr. Dawkins. Vote was unanimous.
Meeting adjourned at 6:45 p.m.
