Councilman Leslie "Les" Hipp

 Councilman Hipp has a BS degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of South Carolina. He has worked for SCE&G for 34 years at the V.C. Summer Nuclear Station where he has served as Manager of Nuclear Protection Services, Manager, Materials and Procurement, and completed the Certification as a Senior Reactor Operator. Les currently supervises Plant Support Engineering at V. C. Summer. He has served his community as a member of Newberry County Board of Zoning Appeals and the City of Newberry Planning Commission. Les is an Eagle Scout, past President of the Newberry Jaycees and is a member and director of the Newberry Rotary Club and he is an active supporter and fund raiser for the Newberry Opera House and Boy Scouts of America. Les is Co-Chairman for the Newberry County Friends of Scouting annual fund raiser. He is a member and currently serves as Vice President and President-elect of the Newberry County Historical and Museum Society and currently serves on the Advisory Board of the South Carolina Archives and History Foundation. Les was selected for the inaugural class of the South Carolina FBI Citizens' Academy. He is a strong proponent of the Second Amendment of the US Constitution and is a proud member of the National Rifle Association. Les enjoys fishing, hunting and woodworking. Les updates his web site regularly to inform citizens about issues before County Council. He promises to be available and responsive to all residents of Newberry County, not just those within his district.
