		Real Estate The Real Estate Department is responsible for filing and maintaining all legal documents that pertain to real and personal property in Newberry County. These documents may consist of deeds, mortgages, contracts, leases, power of attorneys, plats of property, easements and many other types of documents. They are usually the documents necessary to transfer or prove ownership of property or identify the exact location of a tract or lot of land. These records are available to title examiners and the public for research from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday in the Court House, located at 1226 College Street.   The fee for certified copies of these documents is one dollar. The fee for regular copies is $0.20 cents per page.   A certified copy is one that has been attested or verified by the Clerk of Court as a true copy of the original, and includes the seal of the Clerk of Court.   Recording fees for various instruments are as follows: Deeds-$10.00 for the first four (4) pages and $1.00 for each additional page Mortgages-$10.00 for the first four (4) pages and $1.00 for each additional page Lease-$10.00 for the first four (4) pages and $1.00 for each additional page Contract of sale-$10.00 for the first four (4) pages and $1.00 for each additional page Indenture-$10.00 for the first four (4) pages and $1.00 for each additional page Charter-$10.00 for the first four (4) pages and $1.00 for each additional page Power of Attorneys-$15.00 for the first four (4) pages and $1.00 for each additional page Plats-$10.00 for a large plat (anything larger than 8 ½ by 14-legal size) and $5.00 for a small plat (8 ½ by 11 to 8 ½ by 14) Satisfaction of mortgages-$5.00 Surety Bonds-$15.00(for recording and satisfying in the Mortgage indexes) Lis Pendens-without a Summons and Complaint and Amended Lis Pendens are $10.00 Assignments-$6.00 for the first page and $1.00 for each additional page and $6.00 for any additional mortgage book and page references on that assignment Notary Public-$5.00 Summons and Complaint-$150.00 All Civil Motions and Family Court Motions, excluding Rule to Show Causes in Child Support and Spousal Support cases-$25.00 for each motion filed Name Changes-$150.00 Foreign Judgments-$150.00 Release of Lien-$6.00 for the first page and $1.00 for each additional page Easements-$10.00 for the first four (4) pages and $1.00 for each additional page Agreements-$6.00 for the first page and $1.00 for each additional page Declaration of Trust-$10.00 for the first four (4) pages and $1.00 for each additional page Bond for Titles-$10.00 for the first four (4) pages and $1.00 for each additional page Cancellation for Bond for Titles-$10.00 for the first four (4) pages and $1.00 for each additional page
