BOARD OF RURAL FIRE CONTROL

 

May 9, 2006

 

The regular monthly meeting of the Board of Rural Fire Control was held at 7:30 PM, Tuesday, May 9, 2006 in the Emergency Operations Center of the Newberry County Sheriff’s Office.

 

The following members were present: Andy Ackerman, Tommy Hedgepath, Larry Koon, Todd Griffith, Donald Wicker, Thomas Workman, Rodney Bedenbaugh, Tony Johnson, and Bob Snelgrove.

 

Also present: Lewis Lee (Emergency Services Coordinator)

 

 

OPENING OF MEETING

 

Vice-Chairman Ackerman called the meeting to order.

 

No Minutes from last month.

 

PERSONAL APPERENCES

 

 

ADDITION, DELETIONS AND ADOPTION OF AGENDA

 

The Agenda was adopted as presented.

 

 

BUSINESS MEETING

 

Old Business: Chairman Pollard is in South Dakota to pick up the 3 new tankers.

 

New Business:   Vice-Chairman stated that any station that has a project in the works, the money has gotten tight. Vice-Chairman wanted to know if anyone had any ideas on how to get more money.

 

Lewis Lee stated that there is no money in the 2005/2006FY budget to have radios repaired.  Anyone requesting radio repair will have to get Interim Administrator Kluge’s permission or wait to the new budget starts in July 2006. 

 

1st Vehicle has hired another person; this person will go to the station to fix fire trucks instead of the truck coming to 1st Vehicle.

 

Member Griffith stated Drager training will be in the Spartanburg and Greer area.  The course is $900.00, he stated that he would like to attend to maintain his certification and get more training he also stated that someone else could attend with him.  The Board took this as information only because there is no money in the budget at this time.

 

Member Koon stated the 1800 gallon trucks dump valve needed to be operated by 2 people.  He also stated those Pomaria pressure gauges are backwards.

 

Member Hedgepath made a motion if any vehicle needs repair it should be up to the company to pick up the truck and not the station’s responsibility to get it there, especially if it is a manufactures problem. Member Snelgrove seconded, the motion passed with all in favor.

 

 

Member Hedgepath also stated he had a problem with L-Z procedures and something needed to be done.

Building and Maintenance: Nothing to report.

 

 Communications: Nothing to report.

 

Truck and Equipment:  Nothing to report.

 

Training Ground:   Nothing to report.

 

 

EXECUTIVE SESSION

 

A motion was made to enter into Executive Session for consideration of personnel matters.

 

Membership applications were discussed.

 

A motion was made to come out of Executive Session.

                                                     

 

COMMENTS FROM THE CHAIRMAN

COMMENTS FROM BOARD MEMBERS

 

Member Workman stated that Communications needed to give a residents name when an alarm call came in.  He stated it would cut down on response time.  Member Hedgepath made a motion to send a memo to Communications in ref to this.  Member Koon seconded the motion. The motion passes with all in favor.

EXECUTIVE SESSION – NOT TO BE PUBLISHED

 

At the regular monthly meeting of the Board of Rural Fire Control on Tuesday, May 9, 2006, the Board entered Executive Session to consider membership applications.

 

George W. Berry-Chappells Fire Department

 

Member Wicker made a motion to accept the application.  Member Koon seconded the motion with all in favor.  The motion carried.
