SHERIFFF FOSTER'S

EMAIL NOTIFICATION PROGRAM

Sheriff Lee Foster has announced that his agency is implementing an innovative and ground breaking program.

“We live in an age that allows instant communication,” said Foster. “Law enforcement must keep abreast of all of the emerging technology issues as we fight crime. We must also understand that this same technology can be a vital tool in keeping the public informed and enlist support and assistance from the public, who time and time again have proven that they are an invaluable resource to the overall success of the Newberry County Sheriff’s Office.”

Foster said that citizens will be given an opportunity to enroll their e mail address with the Sheriff’s Office. Once enrolled, you will receive immediate information from the Sheriff’s Office on any breaking news affecting Newberry County.

Foster said that information about major crimes, serious incidents, missing persons, weather updates, school delays or cancellations, road closings, and a vast array of other information is sent out to the media through the use of e mail. The public will now be able to receive this information directly from the Sheriff’s Office as soon as it released and because e mail is free this vital information is being made available at no cost to the citizens of the county.

“I believe that it is imperative that law enforcement and the public work together,” said Sheriff Foster. “There is no question that it is the support of the people of Newberry that has made the Newberry County Sheriff’s Office one of the premiere law enforcement agencies in the state and nation. I know that this initiative will improve the already great working relationship that law enforcement and the people of Newberry County share together.”

Foster said that if you would like to receive real time information from the Sheriff’s Office, you simply need to send an e mail with your name, address, and e mail address to lfoster@newberrycounty.net. After e mail verification, you will be added to the e mail list. You can be removed from the list at any time if you so choose.

Foster also said that anyone with a question about a law enforcement matter can e mail their questions to lfoster@newberrycounty.net and receive a personal response from him.

The people of Newberry County have always offered me tremendous support,” said Foster. “Together we have made Newberry County one of the safest counties in South Carolina while constantly maintaining one of the highest clearance rates in the state. It is my duty, responsibility, and privilege as Sheriff to be available to the people and this program offers yet another way to stay in contact with the people of Newberry County, our partners in successful law enforcement.”

“We also have a website that anyone can visit to find out more information about the Sheriff’s Office, provide an anonymous tip, or contact any member of the Sheriff’s Office,” said Foster. The Newberry County Sheriff’s Office website is www.newberrycountysheriff.com.

“It was my commitment when elected Sheriff to make the Newberry County Sheriff’s Office the finest law enforcement agency it could be because that is what the people of this county deserve,” said Sheriff Foster. “Our agency, many of our officers, and I have all been recognized for contributions to various aspects of law enforcement on the state and national levels. We are making a positive difference in Newberry County and we want this to not only continue, but to always improve for the betterment of Newberry County and the people who live here.”
