Victims
of violent crimes come from every ethnic, educational, social,
religious and economic group. Because of the nature of the
victimization process, victims of violent crimes are reluctant to
seek help. Silence
is the criminals best friend. We have to end the silence and
change our attitudes toward violence.
Violence
effects us all, especially our children and families. Many
victims are not aware of their rights or how the legal system can
work to protect them. Many are reluctant to use the system that
was originally designed to protect them. It is our intent tp
provide assistance to victims of violent crimes as soon as possible
after the crime occurs.
Our hopes
are to help reduce the psychological consequences associated with
violent crimes and help restore the victim's faith in the criminal
justice system.
