Johnny Mack Scurry

Born in Newberry County, Councilman Johnny Mack Scurry is the youngest of five children born to the late Reverend Wade Hampton Scurry and the late Mrs. Lola Bell Wilson Scurry. Educated in the public schools of Newberry County, Councilman Scurry graduated form Gallman High School, class of 1968. Mr. Scurry holds an Associate Degree from Morris College's School of Religion. He has also completed course work through the Christian Education Department of the South Carolina State Baptist Convention. After 28 1/2 years in law enforcement, Councilman Scurry retired from the Newberry County Sheriff's Department, vacating his position as a deputy.  

Councilman Scurry is married to the former Mary Jacobs and they are the proud parents of two sons, Roderick who resides with his family in Fayetteville, North Carolina and Chavis who resides with his family in Killen, Texas and serves in the United States Army.
