Scott Cain

Councilman Cain grew up on his family farm in rural Sumter County and graduated from The Citadel with a BS degree in Business Administration. After college, he joined the South Carolina Air National Guard where he retired as a Colonel with 34 years service. There he logged over 3,600 hours flying the A-7D Corsair, F-16A, F-16B, F-16C, F-16D, and the C-130H in the 157 Fighter Squadron, McEntire Air National Guard Base. He is a decorated combat pilot serving in Desert Storm (Distinguished Flying Cross), Operation Enduring Freedom, Operation Iraqi Freedom and Noble Eagle. During the 4 years prior to retirement from the SCANG, Scott was stationed in the United Arab Emirates as the Air Force Central Command's Senior Advisor to the Middle East establishing the first Air Force Center of Excellence (Air Warfare Training Center) in the region. After retirement, Scott has been active in the community as a member of the Whitmire American Legion, Bush River Young Farmers, Newberry Business Alliance, Newberry County Chamber of Commerce, Newberry County Park and Recreation Commission, Newberry Rotary Club where he is the co-chair of Rotary Radio Day - the club's major fund raising campaign, and serves as Junior Warden, Congregational Leader in his church. He enjoys cycling, wood working and sing in his church chior.
