The Newberry County Auditor’s Office will reopen to the public
beginning Tuesday, May 26, 2020 from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Due to COVID-19, only 3 people will be allowed to enter the lobby.

Newberry County Government will reopen its departmental offices to the public beginning Tuesday, May 26, 2020, from 8:30 a.m. until 5:00 p.m.

 

As part of the reopening process, we strongly recommend the following procedures for the protection of your health and the health of others:

  • Wash your hands!

  • Wear a mask when you visit our offices, especially in high-traffic areas. High-traffic areas include but are not limited to lobbies, waiting areas, and customer service counters. Newberry County will not be providing masks to the public. 

  • Newberry County reserves the right, without notice, to impose occupancy limits in certain areas. Look for posted signs and be patient.

  • Physical distancing guidelines will be in place. In queue lines, “stand here” markers on the floor will guide you. 

  • Services made available online will continue without transaction fees until further notice. We encourage the public to use online services whenever possible. Likewise, any inquiries you can make over the telephone will be safer, in addition to saving you a trip.

County officials remind everyone to continue following CDC and S.C. DHEC safety guidelines as well as Governor McMaster’s executive orders that remain in effect.

Our mission is to provide the best and most efficient service to the citizens and taxpayers of Newberry County and to their elected representatives. The County Auditor, an elected official, maintains records on all county real estate and personal property assessed valuations and computes the millage rate to produce revenue to be collected for all taxing entities (Newberry County, School District of Newberry County, City of Newberry, Town of Whitmire, Town of Pomaria, Town of Little Mountain and Town of Prosperity) in Newberry County. To accomplish this we must stay abreast of the fiscal needs of the county, the school district and other taxing entities, changes in property values, population, applicable laws and the continuous improvements in technology. The Auditor's Office annually produces the tax duplicate/digest for collection of property taxes on all taxable real and personal property, levying the applicable millage for every taxing entity, being fiscally accountable for each and all tax records, levying adequately for all sinking fund accounts, and reporting tax data accurately and timely as required by law and as requested by governmental entities and other sources.
